Travel to India

I will be visiting India in the near future.

What vaccinations should I have before this travel?

Which Malaria prevention is recommended? I have heard of many adverse side effects to certain anti-malaria meds.

Thanks so much.

Thanks for the input.

Do you advise against using anti-malaria meds for India? The reason I ask is that the company I am visiting is offering to provide malaria meds in my welcome packet. I find this strange.

It is reccomended that all of your routine vaccinations are up to date/you have completed the series - MMR, Td and Polio. In addition, If you have not already received them: Hepatitis A & B (given as a series of three shots, can be given with a combined -A&B- vaccine), Typhoid ( a one time shot good for several years).....and if you plan to be in rural / farming areas, you should also get the Rabies (given as a series of three injections over a month) and the Japanese Encephalitis vaccination. An adult (having already received the Polio vaccination series as a child) should receive a one time Polio vaccination booster.
