Change name of Lyme Disease community to "Lyme & Tick Borne Disease" community

I'd like to request that we rename the Lyme Disease forum the "Lyme and Tick Borne Disease" forum.

There are many other tick borne infections that come along with Lyme and some of them are significant.  There are also some people who are struggling with tick borne disease who don't have Lyme, but have difficulty finding someone who understands their illness.  There are no forums for Babesia, Bartonella, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Anaplasmosis, and a few other tick borne illnesses that can be very serious in and of themselves, with or without Lyme. Sufferers may not realize they can often find someone else with their illness on the Lyme forum.

I posted the idea on the forum and 3 people already think it's a great idea. What is the MedHelp process for this?

Hi

We've changed the Lyme Disease description and, although, we don't have room for all of the Tick Borne Diseases to be listed out, we added quite a few and will allow discussions as it's elated to all the others listed above!

We look forward to seeing everyone on Lyme soon, but of course, wish everyone the best of health.

Yes, I believe it would.

The list of additional tick borne diseases include:
(List from the Columbia University Lyme and Tick Borne Diseases Research Center)

OTHER TICK-BORNE DISEASES
Babesiosis
Ehrlichiosis/Anaplasmosis
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
Relapsing Fever
STARI/Masters’ Disease
Tularemia
Bartonellosis (Bartonella)
Q Fever

I recommend that we also add Brucellosis.  It is uncommon, but some doctors feel it's under diagnosed because it's described as rare.  We had a man with Brucellosis on the forum and his symptoms were the same as for Lyme Disease.  It's very possible that some people with a Lyme like illness who test negative for Lyme could have Brucellosis.

(These are also on Columbia's list, but are quite rare.)
Tick Paralysis
Tick Borne Encephalitis
Colorado Tick Fever

Hi

Would it be helpful to add these other diseases into the Community Description as we look into the idea?

Thanks for the suggestion

Hi there,

I will pass your suggestion on to our Community Manager and Community Relations Manager.

I am sure they will take it into consideration.

Thanks for the idea!
