kids on MedHelp

Ok, I just answered a young girl on the Depression forum. If kids are going to post on this web site, then they need a forum for ages under 13, with a moderator.

I don't necessarily agree that young teens should be here.  But I see some reasons why it might help.

Teens can be too scared to talk to their parents.  They may come here, and its hit or miss what sort of advice and information they are given.  I've seen some advice given to teenagers, medical advice, that is 100% wrong.  If a frightened teen were to follow the advice given by lay people here, rather than tell their parents, there is a possibility that they would delay getting help for something serious.
(I'm not talking about the situation the OP is talking about--I haven't even read that one)

But I've also seen the flip side...a teen comes here and is given very good advice that includes talking to parents.

So, I'm torn about it.  I always try to encourage a teenager to talk to their parents about their problems.
