Herpes meningitis

Hey guys, turns out my boyfriend has herpes meningitis and he may have given it to me (though I'm not sure if it's full-blown meningitis since I've only had headaches and stiff neck, but no fevers, vomiting or any of the other symptoms like he did).

Anyways, my question is, since he has herpes meningitis, does this mean he has herpes (the STD)? And has he passed it to me? We haven't had sex..

Also, we've been together for 7 months; how did he get this? Did he cheat?

Mainly I want to know if I have herpes, the STD.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Herpes meningitis can be caused by both HSV-1 and 2 virus, but HSV1 infection is more common. Your partner may have got it from previous partners if he has had any partners before you. The virus can remain dormant in the body (genital areas) and can cause infection any time. So, yes, if he has asymptomatic infection of the genital or oral herpes, he can pass it to you during skin to skin contact or during kissing.
Please consult a doctor and get tested for herpes. Hope this helps. Take care!
