endometriosis or just ibs/anxiety?

for months now i have been seeing my GP for stomach issues such as bloating, burping, acid reflux and nausea. The outcome is that my doc thinks i have IBS and some anxiety issues. However, i have recently noticed that during my period i have awful severe period pains(despite being on the pill) and a stabbing pain that is in my rectum.  I read that this could be endometriosis, or could it just be related t my anxiety/IBS issues? I have always had VERY light periods and sometimes the blood is more brown in colour than red. I think my doctor is starting to think that i am a hypercondriac so i am a bit worried about going back again. please help! thanks

Yes, your symptoms could be endometriosis. We cannot know for sure unless you have a laparoscopy which is a surgery where they insert a small tube called a laparascope connected to a video camera through your belly button area and look inside your pelvis to look and treat endometriosis.   If you do not want surgery, another approach is to rule out all other causes of pain including infection of the pelvis and then try controlling your period by a birth control pill which can suppress endometriosis and if that improves your pain then you have a presumptive diagnosis of possible endometriosis.  I find in young women, a trial of birth control pills is worthwhile to see if that improves the pain. I suggest seeing a gynecologist.
