Your son definetly dose not have IC Interstitial Cystitis. I have had it for over 20 years and done all the research possible to do on the subject. Including being the MI coordinator for over 5 years in the past. Your son has a definete diagnosis that you need to see a pediatric urologist. They can do most of the tests under some type of sedation so you need not worry about him being uncomfortable. My son was a premiee and had to undergo the cystourethrogram and was under no discomfort when he had it because of the medications they used before they did the test. As a mother you always worry about him being uncomfortable so try not to worry just make sure you get it checked out so he dosen't have to be uncomfortable. Good Luck.
Hi Fran, your child doesn't have Interstitial Cystitis. He needs to see a Pediatric Urologist who can sort out the specific problem causing the burning. A urethral stricture or a congenital obstruction of the urethra can cause dysuria. A voiding cystourethrogram (X-ray of the urethr and bladder) would rule out a structural problem. See the Urologist first. Good Luck.
