Chances for brain complications

I am having surgery to remove an atrial myxoma. What are the chances of this causing brain complications? Should I have a brain scan to insure a piece of the tumor has not migrated to my brain?

I too have an atrial myxoma. Still trying to find somebody to take it out!!. Apparently heart is so weak they are afraid to stop it to operate, afraid it wont start up again.

How did your surgery go? How long was your recovery. Roseann

The chances are small that a piece of the myxoma has migrated too the brain. There is a small chance during surgery of clot going to the brain. Ususally there are symptoms to suggest that something has happened to the brain.
