For many years I have had undiagnosed IBS. I suffered from bouts of pelvic pain, severe belching, constipation, and saw numerous doctors who sent me to food allergists (I have no allergies), sent me for ultrasounds, and refered me to a doctor who put a hose down my throat to get a better look at my stomach. They gave me no answers. After more than 10 years I finally went back to a new doctor last week after a couple of weeks of intense attacks. I was almost positive that I had a kidney or bladder infection, but the urine test was negative. She said it was gas and symptoms of IBS... probably caused from eating gassy, fiber-rich foods... and then sent me on my way. I was not happy. I was thinking that an IBS diagnosis simply meant that she had no definite diagnosis. So I went on an internet search for answers and found a wonderful site that explains SO MUCH about IBS. It has been a tremendous help. For one thing, they explain that there are 2 types of fiber foods. One prevents and relieves IBS and the other causes attacks. I wish more doctors knew this. Mine told me to eat lots of fiber to get better (yeah, definitely contradicting herself!) which would absolutely make symptoms worse if I hadn't learned the difference between soluable and insoluable fiber! Go to www.helpforibs.com for lots of great information.

Hi
The numbness you speak of in your hands is common when people get diarrhea as you lose alot of fluids through having it which causes dizzyness etc, as for burping if thats your only problem then you are ok, just eat healthy fibre diet and exercise, if your stressed then figure out how to stop it as this really will worsen the IBS,
