IBS or Effexor side effect?

Hi.  I was diagnosed with IBS back in 1985.  I have been blessedly symptom-free since 1994.  I just had to get back on Effexor, and as of four days ago my stomach is such a mess.  In trying to figure out how to describe it, I realized I'm having the exact same symptoms I had back then.  The worst is constantly belching what tastes like rotten eggs.  I have so much gas and bloating it's like there's no room in my stomach for food because of all the gas.  Effexor has never done this to me before.  It's very upsetting because I also get nausea and feel like I always need to be near a toilet.  I'm really hoping it's the Effexor, because that would mean it will get better once my body adjusts to the Effexor.  The thought of the IBS having come back after all these is so depressing I can't begin to describe it, especially because I'm leaving for a trip in two weeks where a big part of it will be the wonderful food, and I'm not going to be able to eat it?!!  Or I'm going to have to constantly worry that I might puke at any moment, and as if that weren't enough, constantly belching this foul-tasting gas.  I remember all the years I went through being at the mercy of my stomach and not having had to suffer the humiliation once it went away.  I probably sound like a cry-baby, but I wondered if anyone else had the same symptoms.  I've looked all over for side effects of Effexor.  This particular one isn't listed.  I hate it!  Help!!

I take Effexor. When first starting it, it does cause digestive problems like this. It should clear up.

Hey Chris.
Some of the common side effects of Effexor are the symptoms you are describing.
Which symptom is it that you couldn't find in your search? The gastrointestinal distress
side effect includes  belching  and excess gas
How do you know it is the Effexor? And when exactly did you get on it again?
Could it be in conjuction with something else?
