10.9 cm Kidney Cyst

In 2007 I had a scan for a hematoma that revealed what the dr. called a "small" cyst on my kidney, nothing to worry about. I find out now it was 8cm and as of an ultrasound in October 2009 it is not 10.9 cm, or as she stated, "the size of a can of coke. Can anyone tell me what tests should be performed, possibility of cancer, need for removal, etc. The only "medical problems" that I have is diarhea, only after I eat lunch, and a horrendous pain just below my sternum in the middle of the night that occurs about 2-3 times per month. I am wondering if my digestive tract is being compromised by such a large cyst. Any thoughts from anyone would be very helpful. Thanks!

I gave the grapefruit tumor ony right kidney I just love all the shapes that the doctors use. Anyway they are gonna take mine out on nov 12 th it is called a nephrectomy. I am so not a doctor but the pain in your sturnum sounds just like when my gallbladder needed removal it kind of felt like what I call being stabbed in the sternum. I am interested in what they say about your situation so keep me informed. I think we are in the same boat.
Best wishes
