Elevated Creatinine Level 5 years post kidney transplant

Hi -

So I am about 5  1/2 yrs post kidney transplant. My creatinine level was at at 1.4 pretty steady for about 4 yrs.  My test 8 months ago showed 1.6, 4 months ago 1.7, now 1.8.  I am getting a bit worried.  Can anyone give me any personal information you might know about this? I feel pretty darn good - but I am worried that my transplant is failing.... Thank you!

My kidney disease was caused by Vasculitis. The vasculitis has been in remission since well before my transplant. I have an appt with my Nephrologist and hopefully it will be resolved with some adjustments to my medications.  I wish your niece well...  Could I ask - what is your Creatinine Level at ??  - Dave

Let me ask you, what was the cause of your ckd? I donated a kidney to my niece some years back and she had cystinosis. Her doctor said that even with a new kidney the disease would eventually begin to attack it although He said it would probably take years for this to happen. I am wondering if what you had and that possibly it could be attacking your kidney as well? As a donor I have had my creatinine go up. Having one kidney your creatinine will always be higher than if you have two. Have you asked your doctor about it? I am sure since you are a recipient that your doctors are keeping a close eye on it.
