Less than two months ago, I went in for mild stomach discomfort and all urine and bloodwork was normal. Doc was kind enough to order an ultrasound for peace of mind. Ultrasound shows a small <10mm cyst on right kidney that is "technically determine but likely benign. Could do 6-month follow-up ultrasound". Doc said no big deal and while it still made me nervous, I thought I'd let it pass and see what the follow-up exam shows.
Over the past 2-3 weeks, I've had a solid ache in the middle right of my back - likely where the kidney is - that I can feel when I bend in certain positions. It's a dull ache, no sharp pain. It's not a constant sensation...only certain positions. So it reminds me that something is not quite right and, while I realize it could be muscular, it just doesn't feel that way. And, my mind tends to go with anxiety and the assumption that maybe the cyst is growing and could it be a renal cell cancer or something that is growing quicker than a 6-month follow-up test will reveal. I was just in the doc's office a few weeks ago so I really don't want to go back seeming like I'm a hypochondriac. At the same time, this is a new sensation in my back I've not had before. Any others have similar concerns or symptoms from a cyst that really should be considered very small? Thanks!
