are water purification tablets ok for those with CKD?

my husband has CKD and we are going to Greece for two weeks in the summer - we naturally drink a lot of water and I would prefer to not have to buy lots of packs of bottled water  - the expense isn't really the issue but lugging big packs around in the heat - I drink 2 litres a day and the cost to the environment isn't good. so I looking at water purification tablets but don't know if they will affect my husbands CKD - any help would be appreciated
