eGFR

I am 30 years old male, and during a blood test my creatinine was 1.19mg/dl (eGFR 81) and my BUN 8,2mg/dl.
The BUN was normal but the creatinine level is high for my age, could it be that i don't drink water? No other signs of renal disease.

I had the test repeated and now creatinine is 0.76mg/dl . Maybe it was a coincidence

Normal Creatine levels for men is 1.0-1.5. Woman 1.0 or less. GFR 90-120 for both. Blood calcium (PTH test) should be between 9-11.

Your GFR is slightly low but not anything to really worry about. Most of us would love a GFR of 80 to be honest. But you need to figure out why your GFR is a little lower than it should be. You don't want this to continue droppinng. Medicines can cause some renal issues, like ibuprofen, Naproxin, any NSAIDS, aspirin-based meds are not good, so you need to take these short-term only and you may certainly be dehydrated. You absolutely need to increase your fluid intake, even clear juices are ok if you dont like water, or buy the flavored water. High protein diets can also be hard on the kidneys. Your creatine is slightly elevated too and its important to maybe see a renal specialist, have him evaluate everything your taking, your diet, etc to see if they can determine what is causing these numbers. You have tacked this early enough so I doubt you've done any real damage. Good luck.

I am 84, with creatinine 1.8 and GFR of 33. It's held steady there for five years. Kidney doc says I am doing fine as long as it holds steady.

With a GFR of 81, it signifies that you have decreased kidney function, this can be for many reasons...if this is your first kidney function test, then you can get retested again in a few weeks and see how it is again. If it continues to decrease, you need to talk to dr about what the underlying cause might be...Kidney Foundation stages that at Stage 2 kidney disease, but that sounds a lot scarier than it is. I freaked out when I read about my own score of 80 GFR...but I have come to know that I have to monitor the level, they can fluctuate, dehydration is a factor, as well as other sickness etc. Do you have any other health conditions or diagnoses? Were these just routine tests or discovered as they searched for something else?

Optimal level is over 91..., 90 - 120 is considered "normal" (different labs have different ranges), so you're not too far off, but good to keep an eye on it. The creatinine level is an indication of how well the kidneys are functioning, the filtering process is decreased in decreased kidney function.  Talk to your dr about your concerns and get his advice...there are things you can do to improve kidney function, and you can also find out the factors behind decreased kidney function in your case. The Kidney Foundation is a good source for information.

Levels less than 60 for over 3 months is considered chronic kidney disease. So if this is your first test, you need to keep monitoring it to make sure it does not decrease further towards the lower values.

I have been diagnosed with non system lupus but have show cysts on both kidney, gall bladder and lung.  I am also diagnosed with hypotyroid as well as high blood pressure (due to a muscle condision in my heart).  This all appeared over the past 2 years.  I had my doctor check me for an auto immune disorder.  Do you think this is something to be worried about,
my nuclear Ab Titre was negative and my DNA Double Strand Ab was (1 - apparently.  Also what is SLE desease?

Thanks
This is an excellent question for your doctor. Have you discussed with them?

I forgot, that makes also a BUN/Creatinine ratio of 7
