Chronic kidney pain

I'm a 39 yr old male with a chronic kidney stone issue. Since 1994 I have had over 250 kidney stones. I drink at least a gallon of water each day, am on meds to break up stones, which dont work, on meds for bp which also cuts calcium down in the body, on a low-oxalate diet, low calcium diet, and just found out i have 6 more stones. 1-6mm on left and a 3 mm on left side, and 4 stones with the range of 1-3 mm on the right side. I hurt all the time, urologists thinks im in there for the narcotics, what is someone supposed to do? Hurt? Also could there be a problem with my kidneys having that many stones? I know i have a chronic problem, think doc does to, cause he will tell me "see you in a couple months"...Please all comments and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I am currently looking for pad placement as to not cause any damage to any internal organs or colon
I'm 42 and have had 18 lithotripsys since I was 26, I've had a few hundred stoned pass and if stones were diamonds we'd all be rich.
Renal colic is the worst and urologists are the ones on drugs when they tell you you're not in pain.
I currently am passing one as I type this I can tell its small around 3 mm just by the way it feels I was thinking about my tens unit for my back but asked an online doctor and they wanted $40 for an answer I'm sure would not be sufficient.
Norco is laughable for pain and any other form for opioid I haven't found the right combination for relief, so I am looking for alternative ways to mitigate pain

shelly:  How does one know where specifically to place the tens pads?  thank you so very much for your comments.  Please reply to me at ***@****, as I am not certain how I arrived on your comment or which group I must join or register to become a member.
I live with desperate kidney pain and have found very limited assistance.  I am 22 and have been suffering with this for at least half my life.

MTK,
I am sorry to hear all that you are going through but also want you to know your not alone. I have MSK Medullary Sponge Kidney disease and this cause us to have a lot of calcifications and infections.  I have countless stones too.  We have an MSK support site here that might have info that can help you too since the biggest issues for us are stone, infection and chronic kidney pain even when there are no stones in the ureter or an infection showing on standard test.  Does your pain always show stones on test or you catch them when they pass?

Here is the link to that MSK support group here.  Make sure you read many of the old posts and check out the healthpages, I am sure you will be shocked how many of us are out there like you!

You might also want to consider a TENS unit.  I have an Energy Wellness machine that is a very specific and more professional level TENS but often that helps my pain when the pain is so bad even the narcotics do not touch it.  I can order an Energy Wellness machine at a discount if anyone ever wants one, but they are expensive and a regular TENS can help too. These use current to confuse the pain receptors in the brain.  Any PT can help you get one and with a script the insurance might pay for it.

PLEASE feel free to send me a message or to ask any questions you might have.  I am sorry about your pain and hope maybe this will bring you some help!

I'm not quite certain if what the guy above me said will work (the breathing excercise thing), but in MY experience, narcotic pain-killers are about the only thing that's going to take kidney-stone pain away (or at least make it tolerable).

If your urologist is hesitant to prescribe, have him refer you to a pain-management doctor. With your history of stones, it may be hard to find a PM-doc that'll take you, as most of them won't touch a kidney-stone patient, but keep looking until you find one that'll take you. Make sure you work THROUGH your urologists referrals, as it'll be a lot easier to get on board with a PM-doc (they don't like off-the-street folks walking into their clinics/practices, as they'll think you're drug-seeking).

I've had many thousands of kidney-stones since the age of 18, and I feel your pain Brother. Good luck to you.

This pranayam will help to break up the kidney stones and let them pass out in urine. Do it daily for 30 minutes, twice a day. Allow 4 - 8  weeks to notice the effect. Let me know when the stones have gone.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

That is awful to deal with so many!  Are you drinking tap water?  If so start buying water and try using some type of filter like Brita.  We were stationed in Germany for 6 yrs and many Americans were getting UTI's and stones from drinking tap water.  The local Germans told me they buy and filter.  In Germany the trmt was to go into hospital and drink room temprature Beer.  Also unpasturized Vinegar in selzer water.  Then they were put on machine that used vibrations to break up stones.  Maybe you should see another doctor for other trmt.
