Dry Skin

I have ESRD and  I am going through dialysis, I am getting large dry patches on my skin
Is this from dialysis? If so why is it starting now?  I have been on dialysis for a little over a year

my dad is on hemo now for 3 months...dry skin is caused by lack of water in your system...dialysis removes excess water from you...my dad got a derma and was advised to use a lotion to keep the moisture from coming in so as to prevent dry skin

I'm an old man and probably would not recgonize dry skin if I had it. Don't think I do. Have been and ESRD on Hemo for over 5 years now,
Good luck

Hi  Dawn,
How  are you?              I have  often  heard ESRD  patients complaining  about that  exact thing.         I've  do have  very  dry  skin,  but  have  always  blamed it  on  diabetes, but  I guess  it  could  be a  combination  of both  diabetes  and  ESRD.

Talk  to you  neph  about this,  might  need  to  go  see  a dermatologist to  get  the  the  root of the  prob.

I  just  used  lots of  lotion  throughout the  day,  that  seems  to  help  me.

Take  care!!
