bladder irritation/possible kidney stone

I am an 28 yrs old female.
I have been experiencing lots of irritation in my bladder for about 3 months now (started mid September). The urine analysis, culture came back negative and the tests (ultrasound) the urologist performed did not show any problem (urine flow etc).He thought that we should do a cystoscopy (but I was relactant).
I also had all the gynecological tests and nothing showed up there just a bacterial infection which I treated. I have this urge to urinate and have a slight pain-irritation in my bladder and sometimes in my back. The irritation changes form. Sometimes it is like a burning sensation (not while urinating, but a general sense of burn throughout the day). The last urine analysis showed amorphous phosphate calcium crystals in urine and alkaline urine(even though I drink lots of water, I mean I do not think this showed up due to lack of liquids intake). My urologist suggested that those crystals might have been causing this irritation. (My father suffers from kidney stones).
I have been drinking lots of water and herbal teas. One doctor I spoke with over the phone suggested Bactrim antibiotic for 8 days. When I drink lots of water, it feels somewhat better. So I've been on bactrim for 2 days now, but I see no difference.
According to you can this irritation be due to those crystals in urine, provoking this problem? Can antibiotics make it all worse if not bacteria was the cause of the irritation?  I am confused and wrote to other forums here, but no anwer. The doctors I have seen have been also confusing me a lot. It has been going on for like 3 months now and I m getting disappointed. One day I felt as if something was passing through my urethra, a strong pain, when I used the bathroom. And I have also noticed white mucus in urine (sometimes).
I would appreciate some advice. I am losing hope here!!
thanx

Dear doctor than you so much and ChitChatnine thank you so much as well.
Actually these 6 months have been so difficult for me trying to find a cure. I started to believe I am suffering from something very severe. My gut told me that I should  NOT take any drugs  prescribed for my bladder but that the problem was located to a different position, even though the symptoms would fall into the category of overactive bladder or IC. I actually tried to visit different doctors (after having visited more than 9, I decided to see a gastrenterologist). And yeap...Irritable bowel syndrome cure has helped me  sooo very much. Attention here to those that read it: I did not have many of the symptoms other people with IBS do have...and so it was difficult to tell that the frequency, pain/pressure in my bladder and urgency were caused by...my bowel!!!So probiotics+flagyl for some days+ antispasmodics + librax did the trick. I am on those for 10 days now (flagyl ony 5 days) and I noticed a great difference. I cannot tell what provoked my bladder problem: it could have been an infection or I am not sure, the thing I know is that after it was sensibilized then the bowel did the trick and now that I have been on that cure the pain on the bladder has subsided and so did the frequency. I am not 100% cured, but at least I want to believe that I will fight it and  I will be fine again at some point. People who have exprerienced those symptoms in their bladder can only relate: I t can drive you to a point that you do not want to live anymore. I used to be a fun, outgoing, social person with so many activities and friends and those 6 past months I feel I have lost my world..I am hpoing more people wll read this and search for IBS as a possible cause of their problem.I repeat that I did not have any typical symptoms of IBS and therefore it was difficult to look into that direction. Then of course stress plays a major part in all these. I just wish I could forget about it all one day sometime soon!
Thank you so much for your responses and I wil keep you posted on my condition in order to hep others that look for a cure, since I read tons of posts of people with the same problems.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It may not be related the frequency and anal fissures.

The commonest cause for severe pain while passing stools is fissure in ano. This is characterized by a crack in the skin of the anus.  Anal fissures may be noticed by bright red bleeding if acute they may cause pain after or with passing stools. The cause for the tear is usually hard stools.

The first step towards therapy would be to combat constipation, which is done by drinking plenty of water, like doubling your usual intake. Adding a lot of fiber rich food in your diet like green, leafy vegetables and bananas. Consuming only whole grain cereals like rice or wheat and avoiding refined carbohydrates. Regularly exercising, as this helps in bowel movement.

Besides a urinary tract infection and cystitis, an overactive bladder can cause frequency to micturate and it could also lead to incontinence. This condition is diagnosed with urodynamic tests. Discuss this option with your doctor who may refer you to an urogynecologist.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello doctor, thank you so much again for your reply, Well, I did take cipro and the sense of strong pressure and discomfort on my bladder actually went away. I am not in pain any longerBut the frequent urination did not go away. After so many months I somewhat started to realize what is happening: I used to feel the symptoms getting worse after bowel movement and recently I re- develped an anal fissure that I used to have as a child. Actually I am not sure anymore of whether this stressful condition with the frequent urination  and the antibiotics caused the anal fissure or this anal fissure and IBS cause the frequent urination!and somewhere in the middle streptoccoccus came along!... The problems keep coming! my question is : can anal fissure/hemorroids provoke this sense of frequent urination? I am starting to believe that in my cause so many factors mixed up and concluded in this problem :( :(
Thank you again..Let's hope that this will come to an end soon..

Hi teresa, hope you are doing well.

As the culture shows growth, your symptoms could be due to an infection. And the susceptibility of an organism to different antibiotics varies. It could be more sensitive to cipro than bactrim. You should take cipro as prescribed and continue with bactrim if needed to prevent long term infections. Preventing long term infections is known as prophylactic therapy and usually low doses of antibiotics are given, which may not be effective during an active infective episode.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

This is actually weird, but they found streptococcus spp in urine.Apparently the first urine culture did not detect it, neither the standard urine test showed anything that was not normal. I am surprised the Bactrim I took for 8 days did not work at all , even though the streptocuccus showed up to be "sensitive" to bactrim (had a test of antibiotics that could be taken). The last doctor I visited it thought I caught it later after antibiotic treatment, but this cannot b, since the symptoms have been constant and actually got better after bactrim (some days after). Now he wants to put me on cipro for 5 days. But I was wondering is streptococcus contagious?can people drinking from the same glas get it? I used to have streptocuccus in my throat when I was younger (10 years ago). Is it related? It's starting to get on my nerves.4 months now and noone could detect this thing :(  Is it possible that this last test was not accurate? I mean I took lactobacillus probiotics for almost a month and then some ovules of lactic acid.Could have messed up the result those two products? Let's hope that was my problem and with cipro Strep would go away....

Thank you very much for your response.I appreciate it more than you can think. Well, the last urologist I visited throught it is an overactive bladder like situation caused by stress and extreme liquid intake. He suggested that I had an irritation of some kind (uti or crystals etc) and then by drinking tons of water and diuretic herbal teas all day long I provoked a mild" disfunction" in the area that should go away by using some pills for 10 days (detrusitol)they use for oab. I actually decided not to take them and try to relax and cut down on liquids and I am doing soooo much better. I only drink water when I need to and I began to eat whatever I feel like (all those restrictions the other doctors put me through showed no result whatsoever) and drink cofee etc, but I am better now. I put a heating pad every day in the area and I also take probiotics and use some vaginal creams (with aloe vera, tea tree oil). This last one was suggested by another doctor who also suggested a course of antibiotics (8 days per month for 3 months.Bactrim).
I took the first course of antibiotics and did not see any change, but after a week I was better...I cannot tell if it was a coincidence or not..The urologist suggested that I shouldn't take them since no bacteria is found in my urine... I am writing all these in order to help other people find solutions and in order to kindly ask you : do you think I should try the antibiotics (2 months/ 8 days per month) with the probiotics and vaginal creams? Or should I not since I do not have any bacteria (at least the analisis showed that)? If my problem was caused by those crystals maybe the antibiotic can help the with the irritation? Or you think  that antibiotics  can do it all worse? And about the liquid intake: I know I should drink lots of water, but if by drinking less I saw a great difference in the way my bladder responds (the muscles seem so less tensed if I do not use the bathroom for a long period of time.If I go often, that makes me want to go even more often) do you think it's ok not to drink lots of liquids? ( if the problem here are the tensed muscles, maybe avoiding liquids can help) Do not hesitate to suggest something onlike , because trust me most of the doctors I have visited are based on the symptoms I described here in order to give me some advise.Maybe we can help other people. Sorry for mispelling, but english is not my mother tongue,
Thank you soooo much for your response and happy holidays! God bless you for all the help you offer here :)
Regards from Europe

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Passing of crystals in the urine can cause the irritation. Besides a urinary tract infection and cystitis, an overactive bladder can cause frequency to micturate and it could also lead to incontinence. This condition is diagnosed with urodynamic tests.
