Dislocated knee is one of the most horrible personal injury.Scotland has a wide tradition firms for example law firms like: http://www.bonnaraccidentlaw.com/how-to-claim/personal-injury-scotland They are helping such people in so called “claim injury”. You need to know your rights as well as possible.
Hi Craig,
Pardon my tardy response. If I understand your post correctly the pain is around the patella (knee cap) and not the patella itself?
You describe the injury as occurring when you pulled the sofa? That sounds like it is more likely to be a muscle or ligament injury. Meniscus injuries present differently.
The knee is the largest joint in the body and very complex. It's a host to multiple injuries. It has four main components, bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. The good news is that most of these injuries do not require invasive measures to correct or heal.
We use our knees more than we can imagine, until we injure it. You are past the initial injury or I would suggest the P.R.I.C.E. protocol which is P. Protect - R. Rest - I. Ice - C. Compression - E. Elevate. If you are still having pain follow the parts of PRICE that makes sense.
Allow your knee time to rest and heal. If the pain persists or becomes worse please consult your medical provider. It sounds like a stretched ligament to me - but I am far from a physician.
Please let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to hearing from you, especially how that knee is now.
Take Care,
~Tuck
