If the CT had shown something bad, they likely would have scheduled an excisional biopsy, not just a needle.
At this point, I'd guess that the needle biopsy will show no-cancer. The nodes are behaving as if they are "reactive" instead, in other words they're doing their normal job of fighting some infection. Nodes can sometimes become hard for reasons other than cancer, and can even stay enlarged for a long time because they get scarred inside.
Good luck, let me know how it turns out. I think you'll be happy with good news.
1cm is large, but not large enough to start thinking that it must be cancer.
If that node became that large overnight, it's probably not cancer. If it grew over time and is still growing, that's more troubling.
If the CT report does not discuss the internal architecture, I'd want to know why an ultrasound isn't now used to do so, before a biopsy - if it's an excisional biopsy and not just a needle biopsy.
Are you referring to thyroid antibodies?
"he told me that everything came back fine"
I'd want to get the CT report, you have a right to it. If it says you have "normal architecture" or "fatty hilum", then you can feel much better about not having cancer.
Or it might only tell the size, which is unfortunate. What do you estimate the size to be?
Hi, can you post the text from the CT scan report?
