You're welcome. Good luck.
Hi, again. The EGCG in green tea might lessen the effect of bortezomib, so I'd avoid green tea to be on the safe side.
I assume that rituximab/Rituxan/Mabthera has been tried?
Good luck to both of you.
Hi Ken, the doctors here are considering Bortezomib for my friend's follicular lymphoma case. Thank you for your help. I hope you are well :)
I already emailed LLS and they gave me a list of centers we could get treatment for follicular lymphoma. Again, thank you so much for your concern and the reply. I hope you are doing well. :)
You might try looking at clinicaltrials.gov and searching for which new drugs are being used for your friend's particular type of lymphoma. The trials are conducted to determine a drug's efficacy as well as safety.
E.g., Velcade/bortezomib is milder than typical harsh chemo drugs. Yet its efficacy can vary according to the type of lymphoma being treated.
If a suitable drug is thought to exist, then you might search for a facility (or doctor) that uses that drug.
Hi Mochadelicious,
Thank you for your reply. Patient is in the Philippines (Southeast Asia) so I'm looking for hospitals around the region. The oncologists here gave up on my friend's case as his health condition can't bear receiving chemotherapy anymore. I heard that Fuda Cancer Hospital in China has done successful treatments for even those tagged as hopeless cases so I'm looking into it. I have found some articles regarding the survivors and their stories but found none of lymphoma case yet. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Again, thank you for your reply and looking forward to helpful information.
Hello and welcome to our forum. I don't have any answers for you regarding the Fuda Cancer Hospital in China, but I would highly recommend going to a large cancer research hospital vs a small local hospital, even if all you get is a second opinion. Are you looking for treatment options mainly in China?
You might call the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and talk to one of thier information specialists. They may be able to give you some good places to look into for treatment. The phone # is 1-800-955-4572. I hope this helps.
