Lymphoma or leukemia symptoms?

E55
Hi,
I've had symptoms for nearly 9 weeks now and getting seriously fed up as it is affecting my daily life. Been to the doctors 3 times and had 3 different blood tests, most recent tests have been normal. Last year, I had an operation to remove my appendix and I had some pain similar to stomach pain I'm having recently but it disappeared last year after a couple of weeks.
Two doctors have thought it was glandular fever although a test was negative,
Symptoms include:
- weakness
- General feeling of being unwell
- swollen/enlarged tonsils for weeks
- aching neck and sometimes face
- itching in armpits
- general itchy skin - particularly armpits, neck, stomach
- pain, where I previously had appendix operation on the right, but also on the left
- sometimes pain on left of back
- occasional bleeding when brushing teeth
- sometimes have irregular bowel movements
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

At this point I would think the doctor would want to do some sort of ultrasound or scan to look inside your abdomen.  Pain for that long is not normal and should be addressed.  I personally have a lot of experience with kidney infections and stones, and the pain is usually in my back just below my ribs.  Infection can cause pain in both kidneys but stones usually only effect one kidney so the pain is one sided.  The pain would come in waves (also known as renal colic).  I doubt if this really sounds like your case though since your pain is usually in the front.

Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon.

Thanks for your reply. I have only had back pain a couple of times, the abdominal pain is more frequent as in basically every day and so is aching in my neck and arms. No I have had no fevers, or painful urination. It is a sharp pain but it is not constant and in several parts of my abdomen. I have had 3 blood tests so far since the beginning of the year and only one has shown high white blood cells. Last time I went to the doctors, they were concerned about the aching in my neck and pain in my abdomen and were worried that it might be something to do with my appendix operation last year and also were checking the size of my liver and spleen - not sure why? No mention of kidneys. So I hope that I will be going for a scan at some point, but I am not sure which type. I am going to the doctors again this week as even though the blood tests were normal, I am definitely not feeling normal.

I can understand your frustration but I'm not really sure what to advise you on except that it doesn't really sound like lymphoma or leukemia.  Some of the symptoms you have seem to be unrelated to the others (like the swollen tonsils and the abdominal/back pains).  Maybe you are suffering from several ailments at the same time.

The abdominal and back pain you describe sounds like it might be kidney related?  Have you had any fevers, painful urination, or blood in your urine?  Perhaps you are suffering from a kidney infection or kidney stones.  Is the pain sharp or dull?  Does it come and go or is it constant?  I would ask your doctor about doing an ultrasound, MRI or CT scan.  Blood tests can be helpful in leading doctors down the right road to a diagnosis, but many times they are useless and other tests need to be done.
