First I want to let you know that I'm a cancer patient in remission. I had DLBCL an aggressive type of lymphoma.

The first thing I was to say is that yes, your lymph nodes can swell due to stress, however, when they do, they will generally go back down. I know this from my own personal experience because when I received my lymphoma diagnosis, I got really stressed out and the lymph node on the left side of my neck grew really fast within a couple of hours due to stress. But within a few days, it went back to normal size.

The lymph node I had was on my hip. I had it for 6 months before I received my diagnosis. I had to push my doctor to send me for tests because he did not think it was cancer. I worked out 3-4 times a week and my blood work did not show anything abnormal, so my doctor told me it was a cyst. However, that's a whole other story.

I would suggest you see a doctor. If the nodes have swollen and have not changed in size since they became enlarged, it is possible you may have lymphoma. Keep in mind though, there are a number of other things that can cause your lymph nodes to swell and the only way to really determine what is causing it is to have a biopsy performed.

If it does turn out to be cancer, it is important to remain positive. I went through 5 cycles of chemotherapy and I'm in remission. All my hair grew back, I look healthy, and I've returned to the gym and have started working out again and along with yoga, and I maintain a healthy diet.

Are you having any other symptoms? Night sweats? fevers? Vomiting? Do you have any other swollen lymph nodes in other parts of your body that you are able to see?

But like I said, it's important to stay calm, because there are other things that can cause them to swell. I would strongly advise that you see your doctor, to help determine what is causing it so that you guys can build the proper plan to have your nodes return to normal size.

Hello,

Nobody can tell you what the treatment options are in your case because you simply do not mention what is causing swollen lymph nodes in your neck. You need to see the GP immediately!

As far as I am concerned, stress and anxiety do not cause swollen lymph nodes. Lymph nodes enlarge if your body is fighting off some sort of infection, you have some sort of autoimmune disorder or even cancer (e.g. blood cancers or metastasis from other locations such as lungs or abdomen).

I am pretty sure that you are just anxious and keep poking these poor lymph nodes which are most likely even less than 1cm!

However, as I said before, you need to get a proper evaluation. Only an experienced clinician can identify an underlying health issue [if it is present at all] and suggest treatment options.
