One hard node 1 inch below jaw joint....help

I just felt a hard movable node 1.0 inch below my left jaw(near the joint) .It doesn't pain.7 days ago I developed swollen gum on the left side(near wisdom teeth) and its still healing. Now I am not sure whether the gum caused the swollen node or the swollen node(if its a bad news) caused the gum to swell.I have appointment after 26 of November  with an ENT.

Hi. Things like being hard and/or moveable are suggestions as to what is inside. So as you know, moveable *tends* to it being not-cancer. Being hard can be from cancer, but also from some fierce inflammation inside. Being painless doesn't help a lot to decide.

I'd say that the BIG clue is that the swollen gum likely came first, and so that then very likely caused the node to get bigger. That is much more likley than having cancer. Much more likely.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. It's good that you are going to the ENT. But I'd look at it as an opportunity to RULE OUT cancer. Then you can relax more.

That's probably also what you have figured to be true. Good luck, Sandip.

Thanks Ken.I couldn't wait and went to a GP and he did feel the node.Prescribed me Azithromycin and asked me to take them for now and see what happens after couple of days.
Yes, that's the usual.

I'll also say in advance, that if the antibiotic defeats the infection but the node still doesn't go down, that also doesn't mean that it's cancer.

Good luck.
