HELP - Liver enzymes elevated after vacation or something more serious!?

I am a hypochondriac and my liver enzymes recently came back elevated for AST (52) and ALT (43) - and I am panicking. I have read online about metastatic cancer causing elevated liver enzymes - I was on vacation the week before my blood work was taken- I abstained from alcohol 2 days before my blood work but I did drink A LOT on vacation for about 5 days - could this cause the elevated enzymes or would this be unlikely?

My bilirubin for my urine analysis was normal.

My last blood work was in December and at that time more liver enzymes were completely normal - under 25 for both enzymes.

Please help to ease my mind...

Don't try to figure this out on your own, call your doctor and ask what could be causing your enzymes to be elevated.  I agree with Careful35 there are many benign causes for this and if they thought for a second that it was cause for concern you would have been ordered more tests.  Your doctor will understand your concern and be happy to explain what he/she feels it could be.  I wouldn't worry, but you need to put your mind at ease so call your doctor.

There are literally sooooo many things that can bump your enzymes out of normal range and so I certainly wouldn't jump straight to cancer. I am sure if you had liver cancer you would be very sick.

Have them rechecked in a couple weeks to see if they fall back into normal range.
