Hepatic Steatosis

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with HS. Very shocking but now very concerning. My Gastroenterologist indicated that this was very common. But I'm concerned if it is something that can be reversed. She indicated that high cholesterol could also be the cause. I'm not overweight. I workout 2-3 times weekly and have a glass of red wine with a meal nightly. Just wondering if having that glass of wine with a meal may be the culprit.

One glass no as wine isn’t bad for you with one glass I have hereditary cholesterol issues as I was even under weight and had higher than normal cholesterol and then had baby and it went higher again so unsure what to do and my liver enzymes were elevated

Hepatic steatosis may be associated with alcoholic liver disease or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Alcoholic liver disease is caused by excess alcohol consumption, whereas the nonalcoholic variant is related to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. Other relatively common conditions associated with fat accumulation in the liver include viral hepatitis and/or certain medications. Rarer associated conditions include dietary/nutritional abnormalities and congenital disorders.
