Liver biopsy

A couple questions: typically how long does it take to get the results of a liver biopsy? And what exactly are they looking for/testing?

I've had consistently high liver enzymes for about 8 months  and tested positive for AAT deficiency. I understand they are able to determine how much damage is already done but is that all they're looking for? I've had a clean ultrasound and MRI showing minimal inflammation. I'm just a little anxious as it has been over 4 weeks since my biopsy and just want to know what I can expect.

Thanks in advance

Yes, it has been much too long for the pathology report. One week at most. You can request the report and they must provide it, it is your legal right. We can help you with it, if the report is ambiguous. I have had many liver biopsies myself and have the reports for each. Contact them soon and they will provide you a written copy. We will be here to help if needed.
