thanks Jack your ideas seem really good, How do you know so much about the liver tests? I feel better after reading your blog. Telll me more about the thistle milk.
Greetings Mate,
Not here to "beat you up" over diet - but a diet more complete with fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, and lean proteins would be the better choice in the long run.
NOW, what do you do for work?? exposed to any known hepatotoxins? solvents? thinners? vulcanizing equipment? pesticides? - are you ever near what are known as "death cap" mushrooms (or consumed even one )???
DO you take any medications? DO you regularly take acetaminophen? (aka Tylenol)? What is your height and weight?
At any rate, the hepatologist will be able to screen for hep A, B, C, look for signs of fatty liver. If those tests come up neg, then they can look for more esoteric causes of liver inflamation (hepatomegally as the pro's say). These are a series of blood tests called ANA (antinuclear antibodies) - and they screen for about 5 things then: PBC, PSC, Autoimmune Hep, Hemachromatosis, and Wilson's. Also depending on labs, an Ultrasound or MRI may be order to study your liver, the bile ducts, and look for stones or structural issues.
Be well - and a good diet can only help (in the long run) Also, Im a big fan of Milk Thistle - read up on it...
Jack
Have you been screened for Hep C? And Diabetes?
And your diet doesn't help either. Canned foods are just loaded with bad ingredients. Learn proper nutrition before its too late.
Okay then I just checking because I think that I stand little chance to keep on living but I'm 53 and drank alcohol (beer) for 30+ years so I'm in real bad shape. If you do drink then stop it now. Some people are born with it. Don't want you to go through what I am.
I have had lots of blood work and nothing shows I have high ammonia levels. I really only have the symptons I have mentioned. Dizziness and hihg liver function.
I'm wondering if you also get confused at times because I get your symptoms as well as confused and quite dysfunctional at times from ammonia levels getting to high???? You need to be seen by a Gastrointestinal Doctor ((GI)) maybe and get lab work done on your blood...
I drink alot of milk....lots of carbs...white bread, oatmeal, canned lunch stuff like beefaroni, aplha-getti...not alot of meat although lately I have bee drinking a protein shake...has not changed the dizziness or the liver function. Very little sugar, no alcahol. I ma on a med topmax for the dizziness as a nuerologist suggested it is from migraines.
what does your diet consist of?
