Liver Transplant after 5 years

What are the chances when complication came positive of his liver to be autoimmune hepaititis after 5 years.  He stopped taking his meds for 2 months and then complications hits.  He had ascites  now and got worst.  He was hospitalized from 7/3-7/14 .  He said he is feeling fine but they gave him ton's of meds to take home and bloodwork every week. Is this for life?  How long is his chances of living?

i am very concerned that the autoimmune hepatitis has returned and resulted in cirrhosis.  the ascites is not a good sign.  Autoimmune hepatitis is known to come back and can have an aggressive course.  sometimes retransplantation is necessary.  Sometimes the disease can stabilize but with aggressive immunosuppression.  this should be monitored very closely.

probably requiring steroids and azathioprine.  unfortunately i think this will need to be done for some time until the diseasde stabilizes. we need to be careful watching for infection.

you must ask the docs there if these are complications of his meds or if he has developed cirrhosis from the disease returning.

Hi doctor I'm back again, I have to update you about my husband,  he was hospitalized about 2 weeks ago because he was throwing up and his leg is still swollen and it bust open so I'm dressing it 2x a day with silvadene.  He is not allowed for another liver transplant because he is a high risk of not surviving.. I'm worried because at times he gets confuse, forget what he was talking about, and his legs are really swelling there's also fluid coming out of his belly from time to time.  He is always tired and mostly lay in bed.  He is also now in insulin.  What must I do ? Is this the end stage? Please let me know.what should I do.  I can't relax and always thinking about him suffering like this.

Thank You.  He is stabilized at the moment. Yes, he is on steroids. I'm taking care of him as much as I can .  It's not easy for me but I have to do what I have to do. He gets tired quick.  Will I get infected with the disease if  we get intimate? Will my kids get infected too?
