Stomach Bile

Dear Dr.Schiano,
Hi once again!! You are such a blessing to so many patients who are so ill.I had that scope thingy done where they go down you're throat and up the other end all at the same time yesterday and he said I have bile in my stomach, how does it get there?I thought it was only in the intestines,or it would eat everything it touches up,that it is stronger than battery acid. I was to out of it from the vercid and benadryl to ask any questions.I will see the gastro doctor again but not for awhile.I am still trying to get a biopsy done on my liver!!!

Thanks So Much For Caring About Patients!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

Bile can back up into the stomach from the inestine.  it may happen more frequently in people who have had gastric surgery or their gall bladder removed.  it can cause gastritis and irritation in the lining of the stomach.  antacids can treat it.
