Post op lobectomy symptoms

A relative of mine had his upper right lobe removed after finding a malignant tumor, stage 1. He had very minimal symptoms beforehand, it was found by accident on a spine mri.  Now, it's been about 3 weeks after surgery he still has a terrible dry cough and is very fatigued and wheezes when he takes deep breaths. Has anyone experienced this. His X-Ray looked good but he was put on an antibiotic and an inhaler. Does anyone know how long recovery could take and is this normal?  Thanks.
