Follow up question about tightening in back

I think I posted this in the wrong place the first time.

Hi, theres no pain, it just feels like it gets tight right there by my left shoulder blade in my back. I have been sitting at the computer a lot. I have been smoking for about 15 years and am 28 years old. Just wondering if the tightening is a symptom and do you think if I quit smoking soon I will be ok? Thanks.

Hi,

Tightness may be due to muscle spasm. If the symptom is persistent, it may be due to an adaptation to pain. The tight muscle performs a protective function by maintaining a rigid tone. If the symptom is intermittent, then it is less likely to be due to a chronic pain like that commonly found in cancer. Stay positive.
