Neuroendrcine Lung tumors with high protein markers

I have lung nodules and had part of my lung taken out after my biopsy. It was a low grade Neuroendrocin  tumor. I have more nodules. I had one taken out and I took two blood tests that check for carcinoid tumors. The release this protein. Both blood tests came out high. Does anyone know of Neuroendrocrin (NET) tumors?

Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums.  We appreciate your question but are sorry you have been going through this health issue.  I'm sure that is very scary and we hope you have a good support system in your life.  Questions of this nature can always and should be answered by your doctor.  You are hopefully working with one regularly.

In trying to understand what you are stating, you had a high level of protein in blood marker tests?  This would certainly warrant follow up investigation.  Marker tests are like warning lights that indicate a potential problem.  It does not necessarily mean that there is but it means "get it checked". Here is some information on carcinoid tumors. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/14783-carcinoid-tumors-of-the-lungs Please note that these are very rarer with only 1 to 2 percent of the population having this happen.  The blood marker test is just one test and I would imagine your doctor will follow up with additional testing. Please let us know how that goes.

Please keep in touch with us so we can support you.  All the best.

The test that is coming out high, twice is:
Chromogranin A (CgA) is a general marker associated with all carcinoid tumors.
I do have more nodules in my lungs and am starting testing with a gastroenterologist to see if there are any in my digestive system.

Thank you for that clarification.  Please do keep working with your doctor.  Are you having any symptoms?
