Benadryl to help with herxing

I was reading through some of Dr. Nicolson's articles and he suggested 50 mg of Benadryl 30 min. before taking an antibiotic to help with symptoms related to herxing.

Has anyone tried this?  I have given it a try today to see if it will help me tolerate the doxy better, so I am giving the doxy another try.  Hopefully it helps...

I used Benedryl to help me sleep when things were really bad -- part of Lyme for me was not sleeping deeply, so I was groggy all the time, on top of being sick.

However after a while, Benedryl can induce strange dreams.  I mentioned them to my dr and he said 'Yes, "Benedryl dreams" ' -- as though it's a common thing.  I quit taking it every night and switched to only when I felt I really needed it, and it was very helpful.

I have read about this but haven't tried it.  I should have tried it back in Jan. when I had that big herx issue but I didn't think about it.

This is very interesting. I used to not tolerate Benadryl well at all, but I recently took 25 MG to help me sleep and I felt better the following day (allergies & herxing have been getting to me). I guess I'll take some more this evening and also continue with the detox baths and adding lemon juice to my drinking water. All of these things really do help with my herxing symptoms.
