Did you get your pets tested for Lyme?

Just a random thought I had ... Our ancient pooch was long gone by the time Lyme came to visit us, so I didn't have to think about whether our dog had Lyme etc. or not, but if I had a pet AND I also had Lyme, I'd consider getting the pet tested (and if needed, treated) for Lyme etc. so that the pet isn't a reservoir of more Lyme etc. going round and round the household.

I'm not sure!  Our dog is long gone, and he was pretty old when he departed, so I don't know if he might have had Lyme or just age.  I go walking in a park near here and see dogs and kids all rolling around in the grass, and I can't help but think about ... ticks.  Ewww.

Hence my question.  We can be really careful about where we ourselves go, but if we've got a dog/cat that brings ticks into the house, it's asking for trouble.
