Greetings.  Haven't seen you here for a while.

The discussions you may have missed here have confused the bacterial infection that is Lyme vs an autoimmune condition that some may have but have been misdiagnosed as such.

"We" did not state "one thing as being definite" with regard to anyone's individual condition.  The comments here focused on the confusion of some outside this website who are treating bacterial infections as autoimmune disorders.

The comments stand.

Jackie, Im so glad you have been symptom free... honestly its just a blessing to be back to normal!!!!
The problem is there is no strong evidence in the scientific field to determine one sole cause of the continuing symtpoms.. The problem resides that there is not enough research to determine one thing or the other. It could be due to chronic infection, and that the patient is not completely/well treated as you state. It could also be the option of the autoinmune disorder. However, since we lack more information about it, we shouldn´t state one thing as being definite. In some people with no symptoms, it may mean they are cured or that they are in remission, as it happens with many autoinmune diseases.
Some few interesting articles:

If Lyme were solely an autoimmune disorder, then I would still be ill rather than totally recovered:  my lab results are entirely clean, and I have had no symptoms of any kind for well over five years.

Some Lyme sufferers may be incompletely treated and have continuing symptoms from Lyme and/or one or more co-infections.  Antibiotics (if used properly as to which meds, in what doses, and for how long) eradicate Lyme bacteria and result in recovery.

What evidence do you have that continuing symptoms are the result of the patient's immune system being 'altered'?

I need more concrete information regarding LDI. But due to the lack of research and information about chronic lyme disease, one cannot absolutely say it only has to do with bacteria reinfecting the body OR due to an autoinmune disorder triggered by the infection, thus a relapse of symptoms.  Both hypothesis are still present.
On going symptoms can very well be due to reinfection (rupturing their biofilms, borrelia toxins released, etc) OR by an overreactive immune system that got ¨altered¨by the bug and with the aid of stress or other triggers becomes overreactive and inflammed and promotes the symtpoms that we experience.
I would take any approach addressing both hypothesis, but Im not finding concrete data regarding this LDI from a trusting site. Have you?

I agree with grdner.

I don't think it actually treats the disease.  It seems it has the potential to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life, but it's not doing anything to get rid of the bacterial infection.

As I previously mentioned, do see Dr Ty Vincent's interviews on Youtube about the success he's having with LDI for Lyme, the same concept LDA has with allergies, that Dr. Shrader pioneered in the '90's. Brilliant concept and it's cutting edge treatment for chronic Lyme.

I just listened to a large chunk of a video interview about Lyme, 'low dose antigens' and not much useful information.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection often accompanied by other infections, each of which needs to be identified and treated with appropriate antibiotics to kill the infection.

Think 'strep throat on wheels':  serious illness(es) that needs proper diagnosis and treatment to cure the infection -- meaning to kill the bacteria.

Some people have a harder time kicking the infection(s) for various reasons, but that does not mean having an ongoing bacterial infection makes sense.  Anyone who would like to keep their case of Lyme and any co-infections for a few years, please calendar a return visit here once a year with your updated test results.  Would be interested to hear how you are doing.

Me?  I was treated with antibiotics for Lyme and a co-infection several years ago, and I am well, as are others I know.  What the fear of antibiotics is, I simply don't know.

Best wishes to all --

I've done a search online and found only assertions and no support for this approach.  If you have any peer-reviewed studies by reputable and well-known medical centers and physicians, pls provide.

'constant "killing" of spirochetes is just not realistic'

Why not?  Explanation needed.

Yup, lots of positive results coming from this new treatment. LLMDs and LLNDs are starting to use it in cases of chronic Lyme disease (antibiotics is still best defence in acute Lyme), where constant "killing" of spirochetes is just not realistic. Google LDI and Dr. Ty Vincent to learn more about the concept behind this brilliant treatment.

LDI is low Dose immunotherapy. It's the latest thing out there. It is suppose to work on your immune system however I don't understand how it gets rid of the lyme and co's already in you.

I belong to several FB groups on it and I have heard it gives more energy. Which is a good thing especially if you are like me with no energy at all.
