Ive posted on here numerous times because I am terrified. I am so scared I might have something else and am getting a false positive on my Lymes Disease test... Im thinking I could have an STD or something that mayb be going untreated and showed up on a Lymes Disease test ( Chlamydia, Gonorreha and/or Syphillis) I know Doxycycline (the medicine I am on now would help for Chlamydia and/or Syphyllis. Do STDs usually result in a false positive Lymes Disease test? The reason I am also saying this is that I have had vaginal discharge yesterday...(stringy, and gooey and a lot of it at one time. then a little this morning, it was also a clear/yellow color but more clear and more clear the 2nd time around) Some people say this is ovulation but I feel like thats a lot of discharge for ovulation. Can anyone please help? I am going crazy and can't tell my parents this and we are supposed to go away for a few days so I would have to wait to see someone until Friday. What STD usually brings up a false positive on a Lymes Disease Test? or can all of them do this?
If you are concerned about having an STD you should get tested. If you don't want your parents to know you can find a family planning or clinic that you can go to privately. What are your symptoms and what bands did you test pos on? I believe the only STD that can show on the WB and cross react is syphillis. It is flagella like lyme. However many of the bands are lyme specific which mean only lyme can produce a POS result. That's why I'm asking which bands were POS on your blot. I think band 41 is the one that could possibly cross react with Syphillis.
Hopefully others will be along later to help out as well. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless there is a high chance of STD.

Thank you for your comment...I have had unprotected sex....all of this has got me so worried and overwhelmed. I have not been my normal self for a month and a half now worrying about all of this... I was positive on band 23 IgM and positive in 41 in both IgM and IgG bands. I am just so worried and help would be appreciated. I had told my doctor to test for STDs because I was worried and told her to test for everything but only got the bill for HIV and Herpes...but why would she only check for these knowing how worried I was and knowing I said everything? and I believe she said I was alright with the other STDs too but I have not gotten a bill or anything for the testing of the others...could I have not gotten it or could it be seperate? Could any other STD besides Syphillis cross react to Lyme? I haven't heard so but I don't know.
I would ask your doctor for a full STD panel . Including a vaginal culture if that has not been done already. You have already been tested for HIV. Don't stress out too much as all the other STD's are treatable.
thank you again patsy!....is it often that these bacterias can cross in a false positive Lymes Disease test? and yes I thought it was a full pannel but apparently it wasn't some people are saying this is ovulation but I am freaking out it could be worse especially since im positive for Lyme and maybe this could be a false positive from something else? is this likely? what STDs could do this? do you know?
Maybe all the STD tests were run, but they didn't report all the results to you -- it's worth a call to the dr's office to ask exactly what they ran, instead of going by what you were billed for. I agree with other's comments above. In the meantime, don't freak -- if you stay calm, you'll think more clearly. Deep breaths!
I don't know the answer to your question but a large number of us have negative lyme tests even though we have lyme. I would be happy that my lyme test was positive then I would know what is wrong with me for sure.
you haven't mentioned all your symptoms? - do you have lyme symptoms as well as the discharge?

thank you to all of the comments...apparently when I had gotten my pap smear it was done....so everything was done is what I was told and was told the results were negative (thus far) (crossing fingers/knock on wood) with everything... I called the doctor and obgyn- OBGYN thinks it was ovulation hopefully shes right although I am still worried/scared.
Sam, You should have a county clinic that you can go to and they ahve to keep things private. No matter your age. You need to have not only blood tests, but testing of the discharge. This is the only way to determine certian STD like Herpes or Genital Warts.
Please don't panic. Get the tests done, There is treatment for STD's. But if you don't know, you can't get the treatment.

Almost always when a person is test for STD they are test for all STD... but HIV and Herpes are the most prevelant STD's so that is what the Dr's focus on telling the results.
You can go back and ask to see your results for the rest of the STD's tested. They have to give you those records, and if htey procrastinate, make a scene...

well when I went a few weeks ago to my GYNO she had said she checked for everything else and says they came back negative and said the discharge should be ovulation. My regular doctor was the one that had taken the blood work so these were two seperate occassions and as far as Herpes and HIV those have been negative so far too. I hope this is true. I am and was just very worried a lot of things keep happening :( and I am not in the best state of mind right now. Thank all of you for all of your help.
Everything is going to be ok. Trust me the more you worry and panic the worse your lyme is going to get. The discharge could also be from the antibiotics. I have heard a couple of women say that especially on thier ovulation time when thay are on antibiotics it is way more discharge than usual. I know it's scary, its a scary disease. But you can get through it. If you are really worried, just go in every month to an annonomous womens clinic where youwill be kept confidential and get tested. :) we are all here for you, and we know that this is a very long and hard journey but you can get through it! And we have a whole bunch of emotional support here for you.
Just remember too that lyme disease is not just a physical disease it gets into your brain and affects how you think and feel and react. Have you seen a LLMD yet? But sweety the possibility of you testing neg on both the blood and the pap and you stiill having an STD are not very good at all. Try not to worry and maybe try going to a natropath.They know different natural type remidies to help with your worrying and stressfulness that the antibiotics can not help with.
ah that almost made me cry thank you so much a lot has also been going on besides that... and I just really can't handle all of this its so hard I want to thank all of you for all of your support and help... this has all been so tough for me amongst other things. Hi...just to let you know...many women do get that discharge that you are talking about during ovulation. Hormones can do that to you when you least expect it. It's normal for many women to get that every month. Listen to your doctor. I'm sure she is telling you the truth. There is no reason to tell you otherwise.
After that it has been clear discharge like wet on my underwear I remember getting this before...do you think this can be anything? She had said I tested for all STDs and was negative but I am going crazy here. And want to go in and test again. This goes on on and off and has happened before too...but there seems to be a little discomfort this time, might be from wiping too hard?
from your posts it is obvious that you are very anxious - sometimes when we have anxiety we have to 'blame' it on something - so that we can put that 'something' right - as your tests [STD's] have come back neg. that should put your mind at rest - but as we all know lyme can cause severe anxiety - lyme also affects our hormone levels - it unbalances the whole body - as our immune systems are trying to cope - we have to let our bodies 'defence mechanisms' - do it's job - 'stress/anxiety' - interferes with this natural process - relaxation is very important in getting the body into a more 'balanced' state.
I am just so scared it could be something different...my abdomin hurts at different spots all over left/right lower/upper neck is also still stiff and recently my left sid of my chest hurts. I am just hoping and praying I don't have something else and that I really indeed do have Lyme because I hear that other things can mess up the test. (Also Hep. C) and now im terrified I have that. (Although my doctor says my liver functions are normal as on 5-29-09 same time she had taken the blood for the Lyme.) I still had made her check. I am really going nuts and cannot sleep the past 4 days because im anxious and keep worrying and i get really upset amongst other things that are going on in life too. I do not know how to cope and really don't know if I can talk to anyone about this. I didn't even think of Hep C until I read it on here from a poster and saw it online. Is this likely to put a false positive on a Lymes Disease test? Also is there any way you can read my post that I posted to Patsy 10 and I could get your advice? as much as I get get would help there too...again thank you so much and I really appreciate your time and patience.
does anyone know that if Hep C was positive and I was having symptoms (a lot), would there be no evidence of liver damage (on a blood test from a physician)? Or would there definately be some sign of it? Esp. if it was a false positive for a Lymes test? just would like your opinions on that too...

I know how useful etc; combing the internet can be - for info. but it can also drive you nuts - I know from experience - you can start to imagine you have all kinds of illnesses, as lyme disease symptoms can fit almost anything - with its huge lists of symptoms!

On friday morning I went to the doctor to test for Lyme Disease again and to also test for Hep. C I have not gotten the results but they had said to call tmw. I am freaking out to even call I am so nervous and anxious. I am praying and hoping that I have Lymes Disease and that these test are for sure a right diagnosis. Near my ribs on either side it hurts but more on my right side and even below on both sides it seems to hurt. More so on the right side though and even past the stomach which I believe pelvic (I am not sure) and stools are irregular (Lyme? Doxy? something else? I have been on Doxy for almost 4 weeks now. Stools have always been on and off even before this I was on Augmentin and my stools were messed up too. hard/soft, change in color, rectal bleeding.) I am paranoid and can't sleep or think about anything else most of the time.
I have read your posts...try to calm down. Worrying like this will only make you worse.
