End of the World?
I'm not really sure that this would go under the religion topic, but what are your views on the statement that the world is gonna end on December 21, 2012? I'm really starting to get worried sick over it because first, I'll only be 17 and will have barely lived my life then yet. Second, I don't wanna find out how the world is gonna end. And lastly, I'm nowhere close to ready to leave the earth yet. I feel as if I had just arrived here not long ago, although it was 14 years ago (15 next April). I really am starting to believe it because today I was talking to my mom about it and she said the guy who said the world was gonna end is the same guy who predicted major world disasters, that all came true. I'm not really sure about the whole thing and I would really like to hear someone else's point of view on the whole thing. Please feel free to state your beliefs.
Everyone is entitled to their beliefs but please don't let scare stories like that frighten you. Enjoy life for what it is. I feel sad when people try to predict the future and put negativity into our minds.
Sweetie, try not to worry and stress over the world ending. First off, being a Christian, I believe that we will not know the time of the end of the age. I'm just not going to worry about it. I believe we are meant to live our lives to the fullest. Learn, grow, help others and enjoy life. What will worrrying about things that "might" happen do anyway? We could make ourselves sick worrying about all of the "what ifs". None of us know how long we have on this earth. We could get hit by a car tomorrow and die. Or we could live till we're 100. We just don't know. Stressing about it isn't going to add one more day to your life, though. So just go and do the best that you can. Live life to the fullest. Learn to love and forgive and do right thing.
From my understanding, it was the Mayans who came up with that date because their calender is ending then. I also believe that they have indeed been wrong on some of their predictions before.
I'm sorry if your mom frightened you talking about all of this. I'm sure she didn't mean to frighten you. She probably just thought it would be an intersting topic to talk about. Maybe you should talk to your mom again?
I don't think God wants us to be frightened or worried about when the world ends. I think he'd be more interested in us helping each other and loving each other. Just my 2 cents. :)

as april said as a christian i have nothing to worry about...Jesus Himself said that He doesn't even know the time when His second coming will be...only the Father knows..personally I believ we are in the last days, but the last days in human time and God time may completely different
Honey, since the beginning of written history people have tried to predice this. Scientificaly our suns not burning out anytime soon nor is the ozone dissapering anytime soon, religiously it says in the bible He will gome like a theif in the night. Nobody knows,,,but your a good girl your smart and kind. Have no worries my dear. I for one walk past all the mumbo jumbo date/ timeline things in your grocery stores. I am a christian and i believe that deception is the name of the game in the last days. Many predictions to counter what God is really trying to tell his children.

I would actually focus on the life of Christ and fall in love with his character rather than worrying directly with revelation and fearing. Love and fear don't walk together. If you know Christs promise that he will never leave you nor forsake you then you'll know there is nothing to worry about.

It states no one will know the day or the hour. We can tell things are getting close by what is going on in the world. It also says anyone who claims to know is a liar! And he will come back in the same spot that he ascended from.

I think you Mom has the right to be concerned as we are living in a strange and dramatic time, historical one might say, the best way for young folks is to carry on with their lives and let the adults do the worrying it would be good if Mom didnt frighten you too much but I guess she is concerned as we all are.If it does end it will be because of the appeasement of terrorism and tyrants,(my opinion) they will in the name of their religion try to fight it out and use nuclear weapons,Israel/Iran, India/Pakistan, I doubt if mankind will be wiped out out. Just try to have a normal life ., nothing else you can do.
You know these are the end times that we are living in! The bible tells us that things will begin 2 unfold right b4 our own eyes! Things that we have never seen b4! You see it on the news everyday this n that chaos!!! But by me being a christian this is a great time 4us because Gods word remains true! Not only that he sent his son jesus 2 die on the cross 4 our sins! So that we could accept his son jesus as our lord n saviour! So dont be afraid nor worry because God made a promise 2 all of those that love him & accepted his son jesus! What a great day 2b alive n jesus 4 no one knows when the world will end not even jesus! As a Christian, I too believe we will not know when the end is. No man will know, they can guess all they want to, but God is the only one who knows the exact hour. It's not for us to be worried about. Also, years ago I was terrified because we used to listen to a man preach and he predicted that the end would take place in 1994. People were going nuts.....Well that came and went and then predicted again in 1998 and that day came and went. No one will ever know! Don't worry about it and don't beat yourself up about it. God knows when our last breath will be and when this world will be gone.

that's right! I forgot about Y2K...my dad's old friend stocked up on everything and was freaking out and ready to move to the mountains. My dad was a little freaked and just bought a generator....crazy stuff! Then my dad came to his senses and sold the generator and knew it was all nonsense. God is in complete control! =)
I been around for awhile. I have been a Christian since a child. My favorite aunt and uncle and their spouses practice another religion. They preached to me as a pre-teen that in 1976 the world would end. When that didn't happen it was moved to 1985, than 199 something than again 2000. They use to scared the bejeebers out of me......
...Until I understood that through my acceptance of Christ as my savior and prayer for forgiveness of my sins that I had a promise from God. He will never forsake me. Just as He will never forsake you. According to my belief the world will never end although Armageddon will be one heck of a fight...He will return to claim his followers and our rewards and joy will be far superior to any you can experience or even imagine on earth. No more sorrowful tears, pain or illness, no hunger or sadness, no more ugliness and wars. How can we not look forward to such an eternity of that?
Live and walk in his word and make yourself an example of Christ's love so that rather He returns "as a thief in the night" on this date or when you are 88, you will live forever in a much better place than this cruel and unjust world. This is His promise. Better than any I or anyone else could make to you.

Well I was going to add to this with the Y2K scare but others already have. It wasn't long ago my preacher preached on the end of times in church and since I have witnessed my own miracles. My husband who was a die hard Athesist when we met is now a saved Christian. He is winning his battle against pill addiction and alcohol and everytime times get hard I have to look up.
So as our preacher told us we should live everyday in his Word and honor because nobody knows when the end of time will be. You will always have people trying to predict it but don't believe them. Look up when you are confused Your answer will always be there.
