Yesterday my daughter rode the school bus as she does every day she wants to. Well there were some kids throwing stuff out of the window and I guess it made the guy mad. So he stops in front of the school bus gets out and the driver lets him on the bus. He starts saying he wants to smash all there faces in now my daughter is on this bus does he feel like hes a big man now?
Well I called the principle this morning he listened and said he was going to report it to the head office???? WTF anyway I have just called them and I got transfered like 6 times now I am waiting on a PHONE CALL am I over reacting they acted like they just dont care. Theres already enough people killing whos to say that could not of happened yesterday??

How big is the Kenly school district? How far do kids get transported? I looked on Google Earth, unless I've got the wrong town, gossip should soon lead to the culprit who boarded the bus. No, he should have never been allowed on the bus, the guy said he would like to smash faces? Do you have a police department, or is your town covered under county sheriff's department? I don't know for sure, but I can't possibly imagine that there isn't some law on the books to nail the perpetrator's butt right to the wall. He threatened children!!! Turn it into law enforcement to investigate.

You also stated your daughter rides the bus every day she wants to. What's the alternative?

I doubt the bus drivers intent was to let the guy on the bus to threaten the children, he would have to open the door to get off, or even talk to the guy. I can only imagine the man barged in, in which case the driver was equally taken by surprise. I would bet, as far as this single driver goes, that door will never be opened again unless it's with force. I'm also sure the transportation company has taken measures to prevent situations it the future.

So long as you have followed the proper channels and are not becoming "hot headed" or unreasonable about it, you have a right to continue pursuing the matter.  It sounds as though you are very mindful of your wife's position and are being careful not to put her job in jeopardy.

The driver should NOT have let anyone on that bus and s/he put children at risk needlessly.  I agree about contacting the transportation dept, but if you've done that and they aren't willing to do anything except "put the driver on a PLAN" - then it does need to go higher in order to make sure that no further incidences occur.  Have you tried talking to the school superintendent or even school board members?  You might try attending a school board meeting.  They too, have the obligation to see to it that students are kept safe.

Just keep following it all the way to the top of the chain.

Figure of speech rockrose
I am being professional about this as you can above my wife works for the same school system why would I put her at risk?
I have went through the proper people as instructed by my wife and they really just dont give a d am if you ask me. All they did was put a plan in action for the driver???? Which I was told one more thing and shes gone yeah right. What about the fights she has had on the bus and the gun that was up there and asking my daughter to stand up and talk to her while the bus was going down the road. Sorry you seem to think I am UPSET you d am right and I will take a course of action to get this resolved it will not be over for me until this lady is fired.
Best wishes to you to....

Alien,  I kind of don't understand all the nuances of this story.

Any parent,  seeing and knowing what you saw,  would have done what you did.  First,  call your own local principal and later call the transportation department to express a true concern.  That's what parents do,  and the school district is truly grateful for watchful eyes.

They don't want a bus driver inviting irate adults onto the bus any more than you do - they want to know about it,  so they can fix it.

What are you doing now,  though?  What is all this kicking up a cloud of dust?  Do you not think the school district has handled his/will handle it?  Why go on and on?

Reporting this is a good thing,  in an even handed manner.  Good.

If you continue to kick a cloud and it's all stormy,  you begin  to appear unpredictable and even a little frightening.

Maybe one final call to the transportation office,  in an even,  respectful way,  to express again that you want to make sure the bus driver understands this was inappropriate,  you want your daughter safe and stress free on the buses,  etc.

School districts react to complaints like this one about the bus driver so there's no reason to make a career of complaining about it.

Best wishes.

I'm so glad that it was not your wife who got the plan!  The driver of the bus should never have allowed that man on the bus!  I'm glad you went to the paper!  Hugs, Janet

Every school district has their own rules, but WE DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE  EXCEPT STUDENTS ON OUR BUSES - NOT EVEN PARENTS, BECAUSE SOMETIMES *THEY* ARE THE PROBLEM!!!  If parents don't like that policy, they can take their children to and from school.  Riding the bus is a privilege, not a right...although it has come to be thought of the other way around.  The children who were throwing things should definitely lose their privilege for several days, if not longer.

As many above said wth was that driver thinking you do not let anyone on the bus ever not even parents are legally allowed on the bus we had an incident where a parent got on the bus screamed at the kids to quit picking on her daughter and the mom lost her daughter her bus rights..

btw    Alien why not report this to the police buses have tapes an ADULT threatened Children this is illegal.

Thanks for clarifying!  I can get this wedgie out of my, well...anyway...

I have a plan for that driver...fire him, like Barb135 said and I'm sure so many others are thinking!  Thats inexcusable!

There's a simple solution to NOT allowing someone to enter the bus:  DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!

You did not overreact! I cannot BELIEVE the driver let that man inside the bus! Stuff like this really upsets me. One time a few weeks ago, someone from administration in my son's school went to the store across the street from the school and decided to leave the keys stuck on the gate. What the heck????? All the mothers saw the keys there when we went to pick up our kids. So anybody that passed by could have entered the school AND had kept those keys which open any darn door they please! That really upsets me.
NO! You did the right thing and handled that well. I hope they learn from this. I'm glad all the kids are okay and nothing happened :)

You did absolutely nothing wrong!!  There are too many kooks out there and there is no way that driver should have let ANYONE on that bus.  There could have been a lot of kids hurt in a situation like that.

There should be no PLAN for the driver..... he should have been fired on the spot.

Our district has helpers who ride to help the driver maintain discipline and if they had that, they might have been able to prevent kids from throwing things out the window in the first place.  THAT could be dangerous too, depending on what they were throwing -- something could hit another vehicle's windshield or something and cause an accident.  But that's another matter.

Even so - no one who is not a passenger on the bus should EVER be allowed to enter a school bus.

The focus is on the WRONG PERSON!!!  I drive a school bus, and our policy is that NO ADULTS enter our buses - NOT EVEN PARENTS!!!  This prevents lots of problems.

I cannot believe the bus driver isn't the one on "the plan" and not your wife.  That's just not right!

I'm sure that you are not the only parent who called, but just because your wife works for the school board, SHE gets a "plan"....COME ON!!!  NOT RIGHT!  You were calling as a parent, NOT AS THE HUSBAND OF AN EMPLOYEE!!!  WHAT KIND OF A MORON CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT???

What sort of plan do they have in place for your wife??  This is nuts.........Some crazy $%#@*& is allowed on the bus and goes off on children and your wife is the one who has a plan??  I will be more than happy to show up at that school board meeting.....hooker boots and all..........Dont take any cr@p from anyone on this.  Your children were put in danger by that bus driver.  If nothing is done at the school level there are governing boards that oversee those chumps.........

I'm really confused also by "the plan"???  Shouldn't they be working on a plan to prevent this type of thing from happening again??  You have every right to be upset and angry.  What the he** was that bus driver thinking?  Furthermore, if your wife loses her job over this that's illegal!!  I'm sorry you and your family are going thru this.  It's absolute nonsense!!

alienshadow, I'm not sure I understand the story. Let me see if I got it right. There were kids throwing stuff out of the bus windows? I'm assuming the guy that stopped in front of the bus was someone that maybe got hit by stuff thrown out the windows? I could understand the guy getting upset but certainly not threatening children. Nor can I understand why on earth the bus driver would have let him on the bus, especially in this day and age with all the road rage, etc. I agree with you on calling and reporting all this to the school. I hope something is done.
This is why I hate school buses. I let my kids ride the bus when they were younger and I said I'd never do it again. It just seems like the kids get out of control, there's bullying on the bus a lot of times and the bus driver can't catch everything.
My friend drove a school bus for middle school students for awhile and lasted 4 months. He was a nervous wreck and couldn't take it anymore. I think every bus should have a monitor or helper on it, but that's beside the point. Sorry, I got a little off topic here.
I'm still confused about your wife losing her job? Does she work for the school or something? Sorry, I may not have had enough coffee this morning. Please bear with me! Just wanted to make sure I understood the story.
Sorry your day was so stressful yesterday. I hope things get worked out!
