Will Medullary Sponge Kidney Disease (MSK) cause high blood pressure?

I was diagnosed hypertension last month with the blood pressure of 112/173 at the age of 36. I was told it is Essential hypertension instead of secondary hypertension, and I began to take some medicine. My blood pressure became normal soon after I took the medicine, but last week in a physical examination, I was told that I got a Sponge Kidney Disease (MSK). Is there any relationship between MSK and the high blood pressure? `Cause I found there’re lots of people who are suffering both MSK and hypertension.

your kidneys regulate your blood pressure. when you have MSN the kidneys are not functioning properly. I too have MSK and high blood pressure at a young age.

I agree with you that a lot suffer from both .. but I'm not sure why, either.  I do know when passing a stone or in active pain, BP can rise but not sure why higher BP can be common .. Does it have anything to do with RTA?
