Helping Mum

My mum is going through menopause and I'm wondering what I can do to help with the emotional side effects. I'm finding it difficult to sympathise with some of her day to day issues with work/people/life etc but know as a female that I will experience this one day and want to be more in tune to what she is going through. Does anyone have any advice?

Like old_befire_my_time mentions, you can suggest your mum to see her doctor to discuss HRT.

Other natural ways to help are by having a healthy and well balanced diet.  Cutting out all junk and processed foods like tinned foods and bread.  Sugary foods (cakes, biscuits etc) and drinks including fizzy and alcohol.  Cutting out tea and coffee.  Choose brown bread instead of the white one.

You can also purchase minerals and vitamins specifically for women on the change.

Ensure too that your mum drinks plenty of fluids and especially water.

It is better for her to wear thin layers of clothing so that if she does start to feel hot and sweat, she can take a layer off.

Unfortunately, it can take many years before all the symptoms settle and the change is complete.

Hormone "replacement" therapy (HRT) can be helpful for women going through a severe natural menopause or those in surgical or induced menopause (from ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure).

To start with learn all that you conceivably can about what menopause is similar to and what changes and encounters are regular. Beginning in an exercise plan is simpler on the off chance that you have company, offer to take nightly walks with her it can turn into a healthy custom that you both like. Don't personalize her states of mind, she can be furious or dismal or disappointed, and you can hear her out without making it about you.
