Is this menopause or can be another serious problem

My wife has 48 years and her last period was in may/2010 2 years ago from now. We were taking vacation in a very calm place (april 2012) and suddenly she starst having a little blood discharge from her vagina, she mentioned me that she feels same sintomathology than her periods, then Aug (2012) she had the same vaginal blood discharge and period like sintomathology, both discharges are very very little. We are very worry thinking that this can be a serious problem. We heard that after 1 year of last period with out any other period can be menopause but if a vaginal blood occurs after can be other problems non related to menopause, like cervical cancer. Her last pap was 2 years ago and everything was ok, before that every year she had her pap, this is the longest time with out taking this routine examination, any comment will be really appreciatted.

Hi!  I've been in menopause for over a 1 1/2, I'm 54 and all of a sudden I am having shortness of breath, went to the ER had EKG and all the other work ups for cardio and respiratory.  Am a okay. The only thing I have done is up my estrogen patch from 0.025 to 0.0375 due to panic attacks.  I am also taking progesterone (compound pharmacy) .  When this started I went back down to 0.025 patch.  This has all happened in the past month.  Anyone have any advice.

We just got the pap results, doctor said that everything is ok, whan happened is that my wife is not at menopause already, she is entering into, the recomendation is to take note about this period date and monitor the next one to be 100% sure when the menopause starts.

Thanks god, this was not serious.

Regards

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
HI,
Any bleeding however small in amount, occurring after menopause requires further investigations. This bleeding can be because of cervical erosion, polyps, or cervical cancer. Pap smear and ultrasonography of the pelvis should be done. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Hope this helps.
