is this menopause ?

I have had bouts of tingling ,  slight numbness, a pins & needles feeling in my hands feet & more recently in my lip & tongue, I have had two episodes lasting about  ten days to two weeks each then the symptoms subside & almost disappear for a few weeks then for no apparent reason come back again. I've also had sore joint pain particularly in my ankles, but also a feeling of general soreness for a couple of days last week & a hey legs & muscles
when I had the first bout of tingling I was referred to a neurologist , he did a full clinical examination, reflexes, vibration , sensation tests, speech & hearing which were all normal, I'm worried it's MS , but after reading this forum I wonder if it's menopause, I'm 51 & have not had a period for around six months, any ideas would be helpful !

Thank you for replying & advice.... i read with interest that you do not think the tingling & numbness I'm experiencing is related to peri menopause, there seems to be many people posting the same symptoms on the forum whose symptoms are related to menopause, can all these postings be experiencing similar symptoms & it not be related at all?
I am an occasional social drinker, have not had a viral infection to my knowledge & have recently seem an orthopaedic surgeon in relation to a herniated disc in my lumbar spine, but unfortunately had non of the symptoms I'm experiencing now, which all seem to have come on almost over night. The achey joints  are intermittent & come & go.
I have seem my GP who has done bloods tests etc but have all come back normal with the exception of my cholesterol which is 5.3. vitMin B12 is normal too. where to from here I wonder ?

Hi,
The feeling of tingling, pins and needles is not a sign of menopause. The joint pains can be due to arthritis or osteoporosis and this needs to be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon. Vitamin D and calcium supplements will help. It is good that all your neurological evaluation is normal. Your symptoms can be due to peripheral neuropathy caused by vitamin deficiency, excessive use of alcohol or due to viral infections. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps.
