synthroid 88mg

I have been taking synthroid 88mg for sometime now, and I have noticed since they upped me from 75mg to 88mg, I have gain about 20lbs over the last 2years.  I am convinced that it's the synthroid, but my doctor does not agree.  Should I see another specialist??? I really don't think this medication is working for me.

I was taking straight snythroid and didn't feel "right."  I kept having them check and of course the results were in the normal range.  I found a website "About Thyroid" and there was information on another component that is in some thyroid medications.  It is the T3 as opposed to the T4 (synthroid).  I asked my doctor about it and he sent me to an endocrinologist who specialized in thyroid.  I asked them about it and they put me on 5 mcg (micrograms) of cytomel (T3).  TREMENDOUS difference in feelings.  I had energy again and many of the other symptoms went away.  If something doesn't feel right, keep fighting until someone hears you.  It can make all the difference in the world!

Are you having any other symptoms of uncontrolled thyroid disease? I have it too and when docs look at your blood test results, there is a big range that is considered "normal". So your blood results could be in the normal range while you may still not feel well and need a larger daily dose of thyroid medication.
