Atrophy in One Testicle

To start, I am a 29 year old male, in rather good physical shape, and do not take any medication, nor am I being treated for anything.

Approximately 2.5 years ago, I got Hand foot and mouth disease, where I experienced a fever among other symptoms.

During this time, my right testicle swelled for about a day, but reduced in size just as quickly as it suddenly became inflamed. It reduced  dramatically in size, and has never returned to the normal size of the unaffected testicle (left). There is no pain, or any noticeable difference during or after this occurrence, aside from the size.

Is this something to be concerned about?

What is odd is that it is only ONE testicle, correct? If it were related to testosterone issues, I'd imagine it would be both testicles atrophying. I'd guess atherosclerosis is a possibility. I agree that you need to see your doctor to discuss this especially if it is related to plague build up causing the issue.

The post mentioned this occurred in the setting of infection; orchitis may present unilaterally.

This would probably be a better question to ask your urologist, but symptoms of testicular atrophy can include decreased sex drive, infertility, reduced muscle mass, and/or absent or reduced facial or pubic hair growth.
