can azithromycin and bactrim be taken together

just curious if they can... I was diagnosed with a prostate infection and im taking Bactrim for it, but I think its more urethritis and I know they prescribe azithromycin for that...

Well, hopefully you disclosed the current Bactrim prescription.  In general though, double check with your doc or pharmacist but yes, you can take them together.  Antibiotics cover different pathogens more effectively than others.  Each class of antibiotics has a profile of what pathogens they work best for.  So, the double antibiotic approach is giving you fuller coverage.  Side effects may be more though.  Anyway, check in with your doctor to be sure.
