If Trimix induced priapism goes down on the way to the ER should ...?

Should I still be checked out? This happened a week ago with Trimix and a couple of months ago after my initial appointment with my urologist. The 1st dose was 20 units. I started looking for ERs that took my insurance at 4 hours and as I was doing that it went down. Last week was 15 units. I actually went to the ER but it went down while I was waiting so I left. That was a 4.5 hour erection. Last night I took 10 units. I was going to go to the ER but thinking about what happened last time I waited a bit longer and again it went down around 4.5 hours later. Can the effects of these priapisms be cumulative?

So far, it seems like all you have is evidence that you're very sensitive to Trimix, not that it's cumulative. If you intend to keep taking it (if you can't get erections naturally and no other drug works), drop the dose way down, like to 2 or 5, and go up only a few mgs at at a time if necessary. Also, call your doc to tell him the problems you're having.

Ok thanks. I was worried that damage might have been done, having 2 episodes like this within such a close time period. I know 4 hours is generally considered the point where you need to get to the ER and this would make it about 9 hours of priapism altogether, just split up by 7 days. I'll definitely take your advice and try a much smaller dose. Next time I'll see what 3 units does.  I have an appointment in a few days.

Oral ED drugs are usually effective but not always, other factors can effect how quickly/well they work. Mainly though I tend to get the bad side effects...headaches, flushing, congestion so I really want the Trimix to work...just...y'know...without the boner alarms.
Well, frankly, given how TriMix is administered, those must be pretty dang bad headaches, flushing and congestion to make it better than other choices! Yikes!

I haven't found anything in reading up on TriMix side effects that suggest you can get a cumulative effect of the drug itself, like, it builds up in your body or something. I'd take the fact that the erection went down as a sign it doesn't build up, or it does fade away. Yes, there can be some damage if an erection stays too long, but it doesn't sound like that happened either or it sounds like you would have some pain.

When you're with your doc, you might ask if there is anything you could take at home if the erection stays too long. I think what they use at the hospital is adrenaline -- isn't an epipen the same thing? That said, my guess is, if you use just a tiny amount, you won't have the problem anyway. The trick will be determining what size of tiny dose gives you a desirable erection but doesn't prompt the Neverending Boner.

Good luck!
