Jock itch or something else?

First off let me start off by saying thank you to those who took the time to reply to this post. I have had a dry patch on the left side of my scrotum for quite some time now, the area seems to be a different color from the rest of my skin (light pink) and is consistently dry and chaffing and very itchy at times. I thought it may have been jock itch but nothing really seems to help and I am worried that it may be something else. I made the mistake of having unprotected sex in December of 2020, not for very long either as I stopped because I knew I shouldn’t be taking part in that act like that, but I haven’t had any other symptoms besides the dryness and itchiness so I’m not sure if it is an std, I’m going on close to a year experiencing this and I really need to put my mind at ease. If it is an std would I have had any other symptoms by now? Such as blisters pain when urinating etc…? Does herpes or any other kind of std cause a non stop itch for this long? I’m only worried because I did go to my dr and I was prescribed fluconzole but it didn’t really seem to do much for me. I am now using lamisil and the itch compared to what it was has gone down a bit. I probably scratch maybe once a day now where as before it was a constant need, however the dryness does come back.

that doesn't sound like an std.  And it's way later from when you had the sexual exposure.  I'd look more to it being a skin issue. We can get dermatitis on our penises.  You do have symptoms of jock itch on your penis.  They are:     redness
    persistent itching
    burning sensation
    flaking, peeling, or cracking skin
rash that gets worse with exercise or activity
    changes in skin color
rash that doesn’t improve or worsens, or spreads with over-the-counter hydrocortisone (anti-itch) cream

Just to list them.  The flaking and peeling may be what you are saying is dryness.

You are applying otc products. Which sometimes will work. But since it hasn't, any chance you can get to the doctor to take a look?  You may need a different topical agent to clear this up.And if it is dermatitis OR ezcema, it would be a different situation entirely. https://www.healthline.com/health/jock-itch#treatment  and  https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/eczema/what-to-know-about-eczema-on-the-penis

I think you should go see your doctor to get to the bottom of this.  But take STD out of your mind. This is a dermatology problem from what you've described.

Thank you all so much for the replies, by dryness I did mean flaking. I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week, really hoping I can get some answers!

Don't know what you have, but dryness is different than jock itch.  Jock itch, which I've had, is a fungus called ringworm, and it usually shows as a light red ring at the edge of your pubic hair.  It could be in other places, but that's where it has shown up when I've had it.  It does often come back if you use antifungal meds, as they also harm the beneficial organisms that protect us from such things.  The eggs are also not usually killed off, and so it often takes more than one application period to kill it off.  But if you've seen a doc, one would hope the doc told you what it was and didn't just give you an antibiotic in order to get rid of you, as they often do.  So did he say it was ringworm?  Did he say it might be an STD, which I doubt it is?  Did you ask for a test?  You can't treat very well what you don't have a diagnosis for, and if it's just dry skin, as you mention you have, that can cause itching as well.

I have not been tested for any stds except for trich, and only because the girl I slept with told me she tested positive for it. I tested negative thankfully but I am worried it can be something worse. I plan on getting tested I just feel like if it is something like that I would have had Atleast another symptom by now don’t you think?
This isn't really an STD symptom.  If you had unprotected sex with someone you don't know that well then you should get tested just because of that, especially if she told you she was positive for one.  She probably did get tested which is why she knows she had it, and she was responsible enough to tell you, but if you're going to have unprotected sex (meaning you are not using a condom, not that the woman isn't using some other kind of protection against pregnancy), try to confine that to steady relationships where you know the person.  That way, you can both get tested before you become intimate and know where you stand.  This isn't a guarantee, because people cheat on their partners, that's life, but it is the best you can do if you don't choose to wear a condom every time.  Peace.
