Are Kegels helping or aggravating this long running injury?

I will try to add as much information as I can. Just under 6 years ago when I was just turning 20 years of age I had an injury. You see I had been having a problem with soreness at the base of my Penis where it meets the pubic region and some aching on the under side of the shaft when having an erection. I was treating this with rest and ice packs and it seemed to be working. But whilst helping my Father I lifted a heavy object and instantly felt a burning pain in my groin and Penis so bad that I visited a hospital. They simply gave me NSAIDs and sent me on my way but the pain in my groin and Penis was so intense and constant that I couldn’t walk properly and experienced pain when urinating, I also could no longer achieve an erection without pain. I also noticed some veins had become darker and more noticeable and still are to this day, my erections have also been less firm and feel weaker at the base since then.
After a few years of rest the pain subsided a lot and I can go a few weeks to months (if lucky) without feeling pain. But it would always return as an aching again at the base and under side of the shaft. I noticed certain things set this off like standing for prolonged periods, lifting objects or sexual activity so I refrained from these activities. I decided I could no longer live my life on egg shells so a few days ago I did some research on kegels for strengthening suspensory ligaments and also some groin recovery techniques. I’ve started doing them but when I do it always causes some aching and discomfort. Last night was quite uncomfortable and moving my penis seemed to cause an unpleasant feeling. Is this because the kegels are making it worse or will I have to fight through this until I start seeing results?
(I should also add that one Doctor believed I may have a hernia but this was ruled out with scans)

It's impossible to know this without knowing the exact cause of your pain. You are assuming it's ligaments, and it may be, but it could also be prostatitis, an anal fissure, or a host of other things.

When was the last time you were examined for this? If it's been awhile, it's time to follow up. Stop doing the kegels unless you are advised to do so by a doctor.
