bit concerned over slight stabbing pain in neck

M25, do smoke. For the past week now I've had this mild sharp shooting pain in the right artery (area) of my neck, it sort of comes and goes every few hours, I can't pinpoint it to a nerve issue as it's literally a feeling on the right front side of my neck and it just doesn't feel healthy. I am a bit concerned it might be some sort of minor clot. Look through my post history I have had similar issues, and have been seen by a doctor and also the ER staff several months ago. Any ideas?

Well, if this is new, it has to be checked out but doubt the ER is necessary. Call your primary. And if it is something that is continuing a lot, consider that you may have anxiety. Health anxiety and psychosomatic symptoms. Has that ever been suggested to you? https://www.verywellhealth.com/overview-of-carotidynia-4181966  This link talks about a sudden pain near the carotid artery. It's usually related to an injury or trauma. Typically treated with an otc nsaid like ibuprofen. But verify with your doctor.
