headache-ear ringing/post ct scan

Searching for answers: After having a CT Scan, ears started ringing & intense migraines started; has anyone else experienced this? Dr.'s have said this is impossible as there are NO side effects or adverse reactions from CT Scans. Any idea on WHY or HOW this happened?

I had a CT scan of part of my head and neck yesterday, without contrast. Immediately afterwards I had a warm feeling in my head, ringing in my ears, and one of my eyeballs felt a dull pain. A day later I have a faint headache, ringing continues. No idea where this is going. Before I went for the scan I tried searching info on it but could not find much. Wish I had read this page.

I had a CT head scan at a hospital in February of 2017 with no contrast.  Three days after the scan my face had a red tint, I felt a deep heat coming from inside my head, and my thinking and concentration was slow.  The first two went away after a couple weeks. My thinking only got better 6 months later, but it still returns.  I just started getting migranes that I never got before.

I visited the hospital twice and called a radiation emergency center.  All denied that it was the CT. They are wrong.  It absolutely came from the scan as I never had these symptoms before and it happened right after the scan..  They are all to quick to dismiss it as being the CT Scan.  

Medical imaging is a 100 Billion dollar a year industry.  Bigger than Tocacco. So asking a doctor or hospital if a CT scan is causing the problem is like asking RJ Reynolds if cigarettes caused cancer back in 1967.  Worse yet, the medical industry owns the medical diagnoses industry. So we are all really in trouble.

BOTTOM LINE: Those machines need to be banned.  They can be killers, and there are no regulations about their operations.  It's a freedom from truth that $100 Billion dollars of revenue in America will buy you.  To hear how bad they are, read the journals coming out of the UK, Australia and others.  My best to all of you, Lou

My husband had a contrast CT Scan on his abdomin on Wednesday June 29th.  He felt fine after the scan except for being a little cold and muscle aches, yesterday (Saturday July 2nd) he was complaining about a migraine, his back near his kidneys and his arms hurt and he has flu like symptoms (aches, pains, headache, he felt like he had fever extremely HOT).  IS this a side effect?

He had to drink some solution and then they injected his IV with something else.  They did NOT keep him to see if he'd have any reaction even though he told them he has Asthma!

I had a chest ct scan on June 1,2016. I was fine after the procedure. Then I went shopping and I must've had delayed reaction to the contrast. I started getting funny feelings throughout my body and then I started getting headaches. After I had the procedure done, they wanted me to stay in the hospital department for about 10 mins. I don't think this amount of time is sufficient enough.

I also experienced a loud ringing and some high-frequency hearing loss in both ears shortly after a dental CT scan. I had not been exposed to anything loud, so I'm almost certain in was the scan. Thankfully, my hearing has returned and ringing mostly subsided after a week and taking magnesium, B-complex, C, E, Zinc (hearing vitamins). Perhaps the radiation can have short term effects on the cochlea or thyroid.

It happened the same to me

I had a head CT. and appart from a bad night.. i almost couldn't sleep, I started to have a high pitched noise, a sparkling ringing noise in my brain/two ears..

I'm completely sure that it happened just after the ct scan..

Good to know that you have been very proactive about this.

Tinnitus may accompany migraines in some cases. However, this is not a classic presentation of a migraine aura. In other words, if tinnitus is present then it is more likely to be due to other factors like an inner ear condition. I suggest you seek consult with an ENT specialist for a thorough assessment of the ears and the nasal passages. The results of the examination will be able to guide you on the next step of managing your symptoms.

Continue living a healthy lifestyle. Avoid any known possible triggers. Avoid loud noises and bright lights as this may aggravate the condition.

The 'tinnitus' is high pitched electronic of varying frequencies & is still constant.

Headache attacks began day after (24 hrs) ct scan. At first, one every other day, then one to two each day & by early June could not sleep more than 45 min. at a time- being awakened by headache. By mid-June I was suffering 7-9 a day.

Only by chance I discovered that after drinking a beer a headache would follow. So I stopped drinking beer. I substituted sparkling apple cider & had a reaction, one of the worst headaches so far. I stopped drinking all carbonated beverages. This helped somewhat, next I eliminated all alcohol intake - red wine & mixed drinks. Headaches decreased once more.
In late June, again by chance, I didn't drink coffee for two days (I only drank 2-4 cups per day) & was able to sleep more than an hour or so for the first time in a month.
I also started making ginger tea using fresh steeped ginger slices. This is what gradually stopped the headaches. By eliminating carbonated beverages, all alcohol, beer, wine, cocktails, coffee, tea & drinking ginger tea (now I use pre-made packets) I was headache free by mid-Sept.

My thought processes & concentration were completely pulverized & jumbled from May thru Dec. 2007. It is just very recently I can read & write semi-normally again.

With the tinnitus ( ringing in the ears) , how would you describe this ? Is this more of a roaring or high pitched noise?

Is the headache always associated with the tinnitus?

Any associated dizziness or sensation of your surrounding or yourself moving around?

Any hearing problems? decrease in hearing?

These are just some clarifications. Do keep us posted with your answers.

During the winter of '05-'06 in Jan. & Feb. I experienced sporadic headaches, not nearly the intensity of what I had in the summer of 2007 (post ct scan). I attributed the headaches 3yrs ago to stress from Katrina, we lost everything except our lives.
No dye was used in the scan.
The only time I had 'ringing' in my ears was 10yrs ago due to  swimming, which was gone after having an ear Dr. clear ear wax.

You never had the symptoms prior to the scan?

Was a dye used to enhance the scan?

Undergoing CT scan exposes you to radiation but this is way below what is acceptable.The scan may not likely be the direct cause of the symptoms. Have you consulted with an ENT specialist? Tinnitus or ringing in the ears may be due to an inner ear problem .The tinnitus and the headaches may be associated but in the case that the headaches are diagnosed to be migraines , then tinnitus is rarely an associated symptom for migraine.

I suggest that a complete ENT ( ear , nose and throat ) be done.This will rule out peripheral problems.

I had ct scan on march 2018 after Some hour  of ct scan i getting severe headech and eye pain.  I m sure it is ct scan . Ct scan should be banned for alwayes. Till now days i am suffering from headache. Dr are fullish who did not accept this about ct scan. Still i am seeking for solution . It seem it damage the brain for life time. Rubbish machine and mfc ct scan operator.
